School's Out!

Hurray! Summer is finally here. It was nice to go back to work and feel like I was being productive. Oh, I know that being a mom is a lot of work and I really love my time with my baby girl, but some days I felt like I wasn't accomplishing anything. However, I'm so happy that those 9 weeks went by quickly and I'll soon be able to spend my days with my baby girl!

Kasila is rapidly developing and growing. She can basically sit up on her own, unless she leans too far. She's pretty good at push-up position and moving her legs. Once she figures out to move her hands as well she will be off. Sila reaches for and grabs all sorts of things. She really likes my hair and Daddy's glasses. She's also beginning to hold her bottle. Clothes wise, Kasila is still mainly wearing 3 month clothes but is starting into some 6 month outfits. She not filling out the clothes but she is long enough. That's ok onesie and top wise, but her pants don't always fit around her middle.

Ready to go to dinner with Christie's dad, Doug, during his conference in Anchorage.

4th Grade Field Trip

The 4th grade at my school goes on an overnight field trip to Seward. I am lucky because my little family is able to come with me and we had enough chaperones to divi the kids up into small groups. I was able to roam between groups and enjoy the time.

Our first stop was the Seward Sealife Center.

The bottom part of Woody, the sea lion. He weighs 1,700 lbs!

The kids went swimming later that night, and we stayed at the school to take care of the bags.
They were tired.

The next morning, it was snowing/raining, but the kids headed to the boat. They were headed out for their Marine Explorers Science classroom experience. I opted not to go on the boat. I would have needed to pump while out and I wasn't comfortable doing that out there. So, Scott, Kasila and I got to spend some time in Seward. We hit some of the little shops and the fire station.

Waiting in the jeep for the kids to dock.

*5*Months*

Our baby girl is 5 months old!

She's rolling around like crazy! Which makes diaper changes a speed race. She is working out how to get from one place to another. Mostly, it's kind of side sliding or rolling over and over. She's kicking her feet though and when she's able to get traction, she pushes pretty good with her feet. I'm afraid that we're going to get a crawler here before long. Kasila is also still drooling an ocean. Some people thought she may be teething because of the amount of drool she has, but we've decided that she's just a drooler. She generally sleeps through the night from about 9ish until 6-7ish. We'll have to get up once and give her her pacifier back since she's still being swaddled and can't get it herself. Also, she'll usually go back to sleep in the morning after 45-60 mins. Overall, she is such a sweet baby and she spoils me with how good she is. These have been some tiring yet very fulfilling 5 months!

A Night Out

I just downloaded the Blogger App and thought I'd try it out.

Kasila and I are hanging out at a hotel in Anchorage. Scott had some lab time to do last night and a final this morning, so we thought it'd be fun to make it a night/day out without him having to drive in and out of Anchorage twice in less than 12 hours. I thought it was kind of weird to have a final on a Saturday but its gonna be done and out of the way now.

I really have enjoyed this time because it got me out of our house, away from the chores that are never done, even right after you do them. I spent most of the night and morning snuggling with Sila. She is becoming so active! It's really cute when she sitting front of you and then turns her head around to look up at you.

Scott and I also thought that this could be a small test run for traveling. We'll be going down to Seward with my 4th graders, even though the we'll be at a school and not a hotel. Also to Utah and Oregon this summer. Kasila did awesome sleeping in an unfamiliar place, although she may still be young enough that that isn't a big deal yet.

*4 Months*

Our baby girl is 4 months old! Time sure is going by fast. She has already changed so much. It's crazy to think that she used to fit into the clothes on her teddy bear.

Overalls! I almost missed my chance for her to wear these. They somehow ended up in the 3-6 month clothes when it is a 0-3. Good thing she is a skinny girl, even if they are a little short on her.

Chillin' after her 4 month check up and shots.
12 lbs 12 oz  (20th percentile)
25 " long (70th percentile)

Just a fun afternoon with Mommy!

Waiting for Summer!

Not a lot as gone on since our fabulous April snow day. Scott has been going to school and work and fire things. I have been going to work and trying to keep up my one class. Luckily for both of us, the end of the college semester is only a couple weeks away. Hopefully things will slow down and we can breathe a little easier until Scott's horrible fall class schedule kicks in. But for now, here is our adorable little girl and the reason we do all that we do, (or quite possibly the reason I neglect some housework).

Our little polar bear

She loves spending time with Daddy!
Whether he is exercising her legs,

taking a nap,

 staring at him,

or doing laundry.

Tired of winter, bring on the warmth and the bright colors!
