I was also a witness to when he took out his top knuckle on his left hand middle finger with a table saw when we were "hanging out." I don't know why I thought I was safe..but I think that making it 2 1/2 years into our marriage with out a hospital visit is pretty good compared to his track record.
Last Tuesday, Scott was working in Anchorage at an apartment fixing a door casing. Somehow in the midst of trimming the casing, his fingers got snagged. He clipped all of his fingers on his right hand except his middle finger. We thought that was kind of odd but intriguing. How do you hit all but your middle finger? It's longer than all the other fingers and not to state the obvious but in the middle of all the other fingers! But o well, he did miss his middle finger. Luckily this time, he didn't cut any bone. He took a chunk out of his thumb pad, a diagonal cut on his index finger, the nail and part of nail bed of his ring finger and the tip of his pinky.
These are pictures after we had changed his bandages. I didn't want to put up the pictures without the bandages.
While my husband was busy cutting the tissue of his fingers and spending time in the ER, I was at school meeting the author of Fablehaven. Brandon Mull came to Shaw. He is a delightful guy and really laid back. I even got to take a picture with him after his school wide presentation.
Brandon Mull and I
Aw...me being blissfully unaware that my husband was on his way home from Anchorage after having another disagreement with a table saw.
Scott has been keeping his hand elevated and we've been making daily trips to Blockbuster. (We only get 3 channels and there's really not much to watch during the day!) So far we (when I'm not at school) have watched about 5 national geographic movies, Secretariat, Life As We Know It, all three Lord of the Rings, The Social Network and other ones that I can't remember anymore. And we're only on day 2 of not working for Scott.
He may try to go back to work next week, we'll just have to wait and see how he's feeling.
That husband of yours. . .Oh goodness! At least this is one in 2 1/2 years. :)
