Learning Corner

Target has their back to school stuff in their dollar section. I decided it's be fun to use some of the things for Kasila. So we now have a calendar, ABC poster, color/shape wheel, and the girls' name on the wall. Kasila likes to find matching letters.

I'm also going to be getting different pictures and things from church to put in the corner. So far I am thinking of the First Presidency, the Anchorage and Logan temples, and a picture of Christ. I'm sure I'll think of more for later, but I think those will be a good start to the basics.

Kasila: 2 1/2 years old

A compiled list of things Kasila has recently been doing, both cute and obnoxious.

~For the longest time she would say "pengle" for penguin. In the last few weeks she flipped the switch and now says it correctly.

~She moves the 'l' sound to the beginning of words. Kepler (her friend) is pronounced Kleper and tickles is pronounced clickles.

~Kasila is great at pretending! She is always talking to her dolls and stuffed animals. She likes to play doctor. Animals also frequent the premises. Tonight she had some bears over for a treat. Kasila also plays a pretty good puppy, kitty, and penguin.

~She likes to help with cooking. She is a good mixer, but not the best pourer.

~Loves to read! She points things out and likes to count things on the page, even if you're in the middle of reading the page.

~She continually repeats herself until she is acknowledged by whomever she is addressing. Sometimes she'll continue to repeat herself anyway.

~Do not break or cut any of her food apart without her explicit permission. If you do, be prepared for a major meltdown.

~She wants 2 of almost everything… straws, spoons, cups, stuffed animals… or "just 1 more" of anything.

~If you are playing with her and she needs to go get something, she puts up her finger and says "Be right back. Don't move."

Keep Up With The Big Kids

Staff from my school have been getting together for hikes this summer. Kasila and I decided to join then on what seemed like a fairly low key hike/walk. It was great to get out and see the beautiful views. Kasila loved the dirt and kids to keep up with. Towards the end there was a hill that the bigger kids started climbing. Kasila would not be left behind and took off after them. She kept at it and eventually, with a little boost, made it to the top. It was so cute to see her excited and yelling "I did it! I did it!"
